WEBSITE PERFORMANCE
Slow pages lose customers before the content loads. We find what actually slows your store down — images, scripts, layout shifts — fix it at the source, and verify against real-user data, not a single flattering lab run.
Fast isWHAT THEY MEASURE
Three numbers, all about how the page feels to a real visitor.
Largest Contentful Paint: how fast the main content appears. Google’s published good threshold is 2.5 seconds or less.
Interaction to Next Paint: how quickly the page reacts to taps and clicks. Good is 200 milliseconds or less.
Cumulative Layout Shift: how much the page jumps around while loading. Good is 0.1 or less.
Lab tests diagnose; the 28-day real-user field data is what search engines assess. We report both and never confuse them.
WHY STORES FAIL FIRST
The e-commerce pattern is predictable — and fixable.
Hero images at camera resolution, product photos uploaded un-sized, sliders loading full-size files, and no reserved space so the page lurches as media arrives. It is the pattern we see daily, and it is the honest link between this service and Pic Visual’s image work: the same discipline that optimizes a photo for search — our Image SEO & Metadata service — optimizes it for speed.
OUR PROCESS
No changes before a baseline, no victory declared from one lab run.
Baseline lab diagnostics plus real-user field data, template by template — home, category, product — so effort lands where visitors actually go.
Template-level fixes at the source: image sizing, compression and formats, reserved space for media, script discipline, caching and font loading.
Re-measured in the lab immediately and judged against field data as it accumulates — the honest timeline, reported plainly.
THE FIXES THAT MATTER
Typical levers, applied in the order your measurements justify — no results promised, because every store’s list is different.
Right-sized, compressed, modern formats, with width and height reserved so nothing shifts.
Third-party widgets, trackers and pop-ups audited; what stays, loads late and light.
Browser caching and CDN configuration set so repeat visits are fast by default.
Web fonts loaded without invisible text or layout jumps.
PART OF THE WHOLE
Speed is not a silo.
Performance sits inside the technical foundations of a site — it pairs with our Technical SEO Optimization work and runs through every service in our SEO & Digital Growth program. We hold our own site to the same standard: picvisual.com itself was rebuilt as a fast static site, and our case studies show the work. No client results are claimed there — just the craft, visible.
Google assesses three metrics against published "good" thresholds, measured on real users' devices: Largest Contentful Paint (how fast the main content appears) at 2.5 seconds or less, Interaction to Next Paint (responsiveness to taps and clicks) at 200 milliseconds or less, and Cumulative Layout Shift (visual stability) at 0.1 or less. A page passes when at least 75% of visits meet all three.
Lab tools like Lighthouse run a single simulated test on controlled hardware and network settings, so scores vary run to run. Field data (the Chrome User Experience Report) aggregates 28 days of real visits from real devices and connections. Search engines use the field data for assessment, so it is the number that matters — lab tests are for diagnosing, field data is for judging.
Speed is one signal among many, and Core Web Vitals act mainly as a tie-breaker between otherwise similar pages — plus faster pages convert and retain visitors better, which is reason enough. A slow site with weak content will not outrank a fast site with strong content just by getting faster. We fix performance because users and search quality both reward it, not as a ranking trick.
Images are the most common culprit: original camera-resolution photos uploaded straight to product pages, sliders loading full-size images, and no reserved space so pages jump around as media loads. After images come third-party scripts — chat widgets, trackers, pop-ups — each adding weight and delay. The fix list is different for every store, which is why measurement comes before changes.
Search engines assess pages individually, but in practice visitors experience your templates: home, category, product. Fixing those templates fixes most of the site at once, which is how we approach it. Occasional one-off pages can lag without defining your site's performance — what matters is that the pages customers actually use are fast and stable, especially on mobile.
