LOCAL SEO

Local SEO &
Business Profiles

For studios and service businesses, the customer journey starts on a map. Local SEO makes your Google Business Profile, citations and local pages agree with each other — and outshine the business down the road in “near me” results.

WHO NEEDS IT

What local SEO is —
and who actually needs it.

The map pack, local results and “near me” behavior reward a different set of signals than normal rankings.

Local SEO is for businesses that serve customers in a place: a studio people visit, a shop, a service area covered in person. If that is you, your business profile is often the first thing a customer ever sees. If you sell online only, we will say so honestly — your effort belongs in store and page SEO instead.

GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE

Google Business Profile:
setup & optimization.

Your profile is your storefront on Google — set it up like one.

◆

The right primary category

The single most consequential choice on the profile, picked for how customers actually search for you.

◆

Complete services & attributes

Every service listed, hours accurate, attributes set — a complete profile outranks a bare one.

◆

Photos that sell the studio

Real, well-edited photography of your work and space. This is Pic Visual home turf: the imagery discipline behind our retouching services applied to your profile.

◆

Q&A hygiene

Common questions answered by you, before strangers answer them for you.

CITATIONS & NAP

Citations &
NAP consistency.

Name, address, phone — identical everywhere, or trust leaks.

◆

Every listing found

Directories, maps, social profiles and industry listings audited against one canonical record.

◆

Duplicates & old addresses cleaned

Moved studio, changed number, old listing under a former name — corrected or removed, not left to contradict you.

REVIEWS

Reviews: earning and
handling them properly.

Reviews shape both the ranking and the click.

Ask well — at the moment a customer is happiest, with a link that makes it effortless. Respond well — to praise and to criticism, briefly and professionally. And what never to do, stated plainly as policy: no bought reviews, no fabricated reviews, no review gating games. They violate platform rules, they risk the profile, and customers can smell them.

LOCAL PAGES

Local landing pages
that earn their place.

One useful page per location or service area.

Written for that place — its neighborhoods, its venues, its customers — not spun copies with the city name swapped. Each page still needs the full page-level discipline: its own intent, title, headings and links. That craft is covered on our On-Page SEO page.

FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS

Local SEO for photographers
& studios.

Booking-driven businesses live and die by local search.

A wedding or portrait client searches near home, judges the portfolio in your profile photos, and books the studio that looks established and near. Service-area settings let you appear across the area you cover without publishing a home address, and the portfolio imagery on the profile deserves the same care as the work itself — the world of our Fashion Photo Retouching clients. This page is part of our wider SEO & Digital Growth services.

Probably not in its full form. Local SEO exists for businesses that serve customers in a place — a studio, a shop, a service area. If you ship nationwide and never meet customers, your effort belongs in e-commerce and on-page SEO instead. A Google Business Profile may still be worth claiming for brand searches, but it won't be your growth channel.

Yes. Photographers, tradespeople and other service providers can register as a service-area business: your address stays hidden and you define the area you cover. The rules require a real business that makes in-person contact with customers — a profile for a purely virtual operation at a fake address risks suspension.

NAP is your business Name, Address and Phone number. Search engines cross-check these details across your website, your Google profile and directories. If your old address or a different phone number is still listed in places, that inconsistency undermines trust in all of it. Cleaning citations means finding every listing and making them agree.

Review quantity, recency and your responses to them are part of how local results are ordered, and they strongly influence whether a searcher chooses you from the map results. The only sustainable way to get them is to do good work and ask customers at the right moment. Bought or fabricated reviews violate platform policies and can get a profile suspended.

Regular SEO ranks web pages; local SEO also ranks your business profile in Maps and the local pack. The signals overlap — a good website still matters — but local adds location-specific ones: proximity to the searcher, profile completeness, citations and reviews. For a local business, the profile is often the first thing a customer ever sees.
